King’s Church was started by a team led by Pete and Julie Henare in September 2002. Throughout 2002 and 2003 a handful of families from Newfrontiers
churches across the UK moved out to establish and join the new church plant. A number were Kiwi families who felt God speaking to them about returning to New Zealand and be part of the church in Wellington.
We began meeting in Pete and Julie’s home, and within a few months, had moved to a classroom at Paremata School. Soon this was also outgrown, and by mid-2003, we had moved into the school’s main hall. During this time we had a lot of fun together worshipping God, meeting in small groups, and running regular events like youth clubs and camps.
In 2009 the church had grown to the extent that we could no longer fit at Paremata School, and we made the move up the road to Aotea College. By this time we had established a leadership team of elders and had started hosting regular events in Porirua, Wellington and the Kapiti Coast.
Then, in early 2014, we moved to Pataka in Porirua (in the same complex as the city library), where you’ll find us today! We meet together on Sunday mornings and have other meetings in homes or other venues around the region during the week. We are a multicultural group of people from a variety of backgrounds, whose lives have been changed through encountering Jesus. The church is part of a close family of churches across New Zealand and the world. You can find out more about us through browsing our website or coming along on a Sunday morning
